Oklahoma 2A Cross Country Final Rankings 2018: Ellie Gilbreath's Four-Peat and Mooreland's Statement

The 2018 2A season belonged to two stories: Mooreland’s boys, who the poll actually got right, and Ellie Gilbreath, who spent four years making polls irrelevant. Regent Prep’s star won her fourth consecutive 2A individual crown — 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018 — a run of dominance the team polls could only watch from a distance.

Girls’ poll, September 24th: Watonga, Hooker, Boise City, Regent Prep, Ryan. State: Boise City-Keyes 78, Hooker 84. The champion was the poll’s No. 3; the runner-up was the poll’s No. 2; the poll’s No. 1 finished off the podium entirely. The ballot had Watonga — the meet had other plans.

Boys’ poll, October 7th: Mooreland, Hooker, Watonga, Lomega, O.C.A. State: Mooreland 55, Lomega 137. The poll’s No. 1 won by 82 points, and the runner-up was the poll’s No. 4. For once the favorite delivered — emphatically.

Gilbreath’s fourth straight 2A crown is the headline; Boise City-Keyes’ Colten Brown won the boys’ individual title to complete a back-to-back (2017–2018) and give his school a very good November.

Ellie Gilbreath won four straight 2A titles — the poll never mattered to her, and the record book doesn’t care about October ballots.
